Five miles of golden sand, a Thursday-night art walk, and the most honest entry price on the bay — the beach town that grew up without losing its soul.
Bucerías got everything in the right order. It was a fishing village first, a beach town second, and only lately a real estate market — and you can read that history in the streets: cobblestones that dead-end into the longest uninterrupted beach in Banderas Bay, 1980s condos next to 2020s glass, and a taco stand that’s outlived three booms. It’s less polished than Nuevo Vallarta, more real than the Hotel Zone, and more affordable than almost anything south of it — from an $89,500 starter to a $4 million beachfront penthouse.
Two things changed the town’s trajectory. The first is Hospital CMQ Riviera Nayarit — a genuine, four-story, MRI-and-ICU hospital that opened in 2024 and turned a beach town into a legitimate retirement address overnight. The second has been here all along: the Thursday Art Walk, twenty galleries throwing their doors open from November to April, the kind of cultural institution other towns try to manufacture and can’t.
