Mexicans call this bay *la alberca natural* — the natural swimming pool. Sheltered by Isla del Coral and Isla Cangrejo, the water is so flat and shallow that it’s the deliberate opposite of everything else on this coast: no surf, no undertow, just families wading out while pangas ferry snorkelers to the coral island. Rincón de Guayabitos is the resort half — umbrellas, hammocks, and Mexican families on holiday. La Peñita, five minutes north, is the working half — the banks, the supermarket, the fishing estuary, and the legendary Thursday tianguis, 300-plus vendors taking over the streets.
